January Updates
We are sorry we haven't been punctual with our updates lately. I got pretty busy with our preparations for our School of Leaders and for our leaders' retreat.
Our leadership/discipleship training began last January 19. We have 18 participants from the church, and 2 from other churches. We made an agreement that everyone who are helping in ministry at church need to go through the School of Leaders so they will be equipped. Our level 1 is a series of lessons that will give a panoramic understanding of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Our level 2 will cover topics on leadership as well as Bible topics. Everyone is excited with our training.

Just last week we had our leaders' retreat at LSI center in Estacio Village. Everyone enrolled in our School of Leaders were there. Toby shared 6 laws of leadership from John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. He inspired all of us with his teaching. We also watched videos: 12 Reasons Why People Don't Attend Church, and How To Get Others To Help You. We enjoyed the videos and had lively discussions afterwards. The first video also enlightened us how to better improve our ministry and our Sunday services. I also shared our church's vision, core values and ministry philosophy. Then, what is a retreat without a devotional word from auntie Cely and my wife Lecille? They both shared wonderful insights from the Word. It was just a shame we forgot to take pictures!
Then we got new ministry involvements from our people: Daday is now doing Lecille's work as service leader on Sundays. Our children's band is already go go go. They perfomed 2 times already during our tithes and offering time. Jaymark plays the drums, Jed the bass, Ethan the keyboard, Angel the lead vocalist, and Yzza the backup singer. The adults were challenged by the kids. I will start coaching Cris with the bass guitar, Jun (Daday's husband) with the keyboard, and Ram with the guitar. Sydney (Bobo's daughter) will begin helping Lecille in praise and worship as backup singer. Lecille is handling praise and worship leading again because the Lord spoke to her about this. Auntie Cely and ate Choleng are excited with beautifying our church. Adin and her group of young people are very faithful in doing after care ministry every Sunday. We are so blessed with their labor of love. People who are enrolled in our SOL are also keen to handle ministry and we will be giving them responsibility. It's so exciting when God's people help in edifying the Body of Christ.
The Core Group now has regular joint meetings with some of our new leaders: Mabel, Lea and Adin. Our last meeting together was so productive as we evaluated our retreat and our Sunday service. We look forward to raising more leaders in our church so our inner circle of leaders will expand, and our ministry will have greater potential in reaching people for the Lord.
One of our ministry contacts, Col. Lisa Sabong of PNP Crime Lab, was promoted to General last December. She was transferred to Camp Crame in Manila early this month. Her replacement is also a Christian, Col. Solomon Segundo. Eric continues his Bible study at the PNP headquarters and has introduced Col. Segundo to us. Mabel, Ram and I will help him in the Bible studies. Col. Segundo has enrolled in our School of Leaders and also attended our leaders' retreat.
Please pray for us. Some of our people are down with sickness since the holidays. Pray God will heal their bodies and bless their families.
